Mason Mount More Valuable Than Leo Messi Right Now.

According to the latest data published by the CIES Football Observatory, Mason Mount's estimated valuation of €102.5million makes him the 19th most valuable player in Europe, with PSG starlet Kylian Mbappe named as the most valuable player at €259.2m.

That's quite surprising, indeed, given that Mount had very much been a little-known entity among the fans just a couple of seasons back, however, what is even more shocking is the fact that the Chelsea graduate boasts a superior valuation to Leo Messi (€100.1m) right now, even if just by €2 million

That, in itself, is a massive achievement for the Portsmouth-born prodigy, who had been tipped for stardom by the Argentine talisman himself earlier in the year.

A number of parameters like on-field performances, age and contract length have been taken into account while compiling the data and we at Tribuna.com are here to take a detailed look at how both the players face off against each other on paper, although it might seem petty weird to draw comparisons between Messi Mount.

Here's a recap of Mount's best moments from his loan spell at Derby County last season:

Age: Currently enjoying an impressive breakthrough season in the Premier League at just 21, Mount is far from hitting his prime and has plenty of room to improve and fulfil his potential. Messi, 32, on the contrary, is pretty much nearing the twilight of his illustrious career.
Contract length: While Mount's tender years is presumably one of the key reasons behind his superior valuation, the Blues graduate also has plenty of years remaining on his existing deal at Stamford Bridge that runs until 2024, thus edging out Messi, who is out of contract at Barcelona in 2021.
On-field performances: This is the only parameter where Messi is bound to get the better of Mount. The La Liga veteran has plundered an astonishing 19 goals and 12 assists in the league this season so far. Mount's tally of 6 goals and 5 assists in all competitions is nowhere close to the Argentine's numbers but those are more than satisfactory returns for a young player playing his first season in the PL.
Here's a collection of Messi's all-time best assists in the Champions League:

Having shot to prominence as a versatile young player with immense potential while on loan at Derby County in the EFL Championship last season, Mason Mount has earned plenty of plaudits in what has so far been an impressive breakthrough campaign for the Chelsea academy graduate in the Premier League this term.

To that end, it's hardly a surprise to see his market value rocket sky-high ahead next transfer window, with Mount very much establishing himself among the Premier League's finest young talents under the charismatic stewardship of Frank Lampard.
