Frank Lampard's Derby beat Mourinho's Manchester United on Penalties

Frank Lampard's Derby knocked Mourinho's United out of the Carabao Cup


Lampard's Derby County payed a visit to the teether of dreams for Carabao cup match.

The Chelsea legend worked under his opponent coach Jose Mourinho as a player at Chelsea before leaving to Manchester City and ends his career in the MLS  (the Major League Soccer ) as player. Lampard had a chance to shake his formal coach as a coach of the visiting side .


 Juan Mata gave the host an early lead but Rams equalised through a fantastic free kick from Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson. Later on Jack Mariott popped up late on with his first goal for the club. 

Following a strike from Mason which was saved by Dreby's formal goalkeeper Lee Grant, on for Mata after Sergio Romero was sent off for handling the ball outside the area.It was a disturbing moment for the fans ,though there was a quick check for offside from the referee before the goal was given.


Lampard nearly celebrate his first biggest managerial win before Man u's substitute Maroune Fellani put the host back on level terms at stoppage time to take the game to penalties.


 Derby would then prevail after a tense shoot-out where Phil Jones missed the decisive spot kick. Jones slew of after brilliant penalties had been scored but saw his tame effort saved by Scott Carson who had the direction right.

 The penalties continue with a shocking run of shoot out for United as they have now lost five times on penalties in all competitions.
